This panel is used in the deck area of Coupes and Roadsters. It was used regardless of whether you were using the back of your car as a trunk or a rumble seat. The reason it was used in trunk applications is that it provided clearance for the rear cross member of the frame. This is the panel that your cushion seat spring would set on.
