Why is the universal joint cap (A-4520-C) of my 1928 Phaeton - engine # CA5883 - a different shape to that shown in the diagram pA26 of your parts book. It has a large rear facing "hook" cast as part of the upper plate - What is the purpose of the hook?

Hi! The 1928 Model A used the hook type ball cap which was later changed to the more common type w/o the hook. This was a support for the rear of the engine trans. I believe that it added more to the felt vibration from the drive so it was removed. Thank you!!
