I saw a restored Model A at a car show that had a modern distributor and spark plug wires. I assume it had electronic ignition as well. Have you seen this setup? What parts would I ask for? Alan
There are a lot of different options for what you have described. I have seen some Mallory distributors, but to my knowledge they are not electronic. The Mallory is not something that we have available.
There are modern caps/wires available that will attach directly to your stock distributor and it is part number
A-12105-M. This will give you a modern cap with the modern wires. The benefit to this is if you are running a radio or CB, the modern wires will cut down on the interferance.
We have also been selling part number
A-12100-E12 which is an electronic distributor but we are actually discontinuing them. We have had a lot of problems with them failing.
If you are not running a radio or CB, my suggestion is just to stick with the stock set up. If you want to improve your distributor, my suggestion is to add a modern upper plate A-12151-C and a long wire style lower plate
A-12148-X. I prefer to keep things simple that way if there is a problem it is easy to analyze.
