My 1930 Ford A truck will not start. I am told it has a bad condenser so I order a new one. A-12300-SP It appears that I have to either pull the distribitor or remove the manifold to get to it. Is either of these the easiest way to change the condenser?
It sounds like you perhaps have a manifold heater on your car. That is one of the drawbacks to the manifold heater. Manifold heaters were aftermarket accessories and most made it very difficult to access the condensor, plus they create a lot of exta heat at the distributor which will cause condensors to fail. You will have to pull the distributor up out of the head to get to the condensor if the manifold is blocking access. My recommendation would be to either go to one of the modern upper plates (A-12151-C) to get the condensor away from the manifold or to change the manifold to a stock style.Date Added: 06/21/05
